- Foster good writing practice among students
- Focus on the development of student writing skills/academic literacy
- Offer one-to-one coaching
- Determine their own approach to teaching with due regard to the Royal Literary Fund’s best practice guidelines and the terms of the letter of appointment
- Work in a collaborative arrangement alongside staff at the Higher Education Institution
- Provide ‘added value’ to whatever systems of student support exist at the Higher Education Institution
- Keep the Fellow’s work with each student confidential and do not share with staff at the Higher Education Institution details of meetings without the express permission of the student
- Provide to the host department, at the year end, a statistical overview of the students seen by the Fellow, along with anonymous case studies.
