Discussion prompt questions

1. Does your map consider multiple perspectives in its design (eg academic staff, non-academic staff, students, senior leaders)? If no, is it possible to consult more widely on the map’s design?
2. Are all the elements of the map widely known across your college? If no, how are the systems, process and events represented in your map communicated across the college?
3. Are students aware of all the academic skills support systems, processes and events represented in the map? If no, what are the existing channels of communication that are used and how could they be improved? If a student is looking for academic skills support, what is the process they would use?
4. Does your map incorporate this process? Is this process clear? If not, what can be done to enhance it?
5. Are there any connections between items on your map that are not currently there that would facilitate students getting the right type of support? If there are any identified gaps, how can they be addressed? In consultation with academic staff, to what extent does your academic skills provision meet the needs they see in their students?
6. Has your college undertaken a survey of its students to find out more about their academic skills support needs? Are there any parts of this map which are underused or overused? If there is an area that is underused, how can it be developed and promoted? If there is an area that is overused, how can it be supported?
