WebLearn and Turnitin courses in Michaelmas term 2019

Learning technologists at the Centre for Teaching and Learning are running a number of sessions on WebLearn and Turnitin this term. These free courses are a chance for administrative and academic staff to talk to our team and find out more about the University's Virtual Learning Environment WebLearn (and the new VLE Canvas) and the Plagiarism awareness tool Turnitin.

WebLearn Fundamentals

This free session is for you if you are new to WebLearn and want to find out about tools to support teaching and learning, assessment, collaboration, communication and sharing of resources in the Virtual Learning Environment.


WebLearn User Group

  • Tuesday 12 November, 14:00-16:00

Come along to meet staff who support WebLearn, give feedback and share ideas and practices about how you use WebLearn. You'll also find out more about the new VLE Canvas.


Plagiarism: Interpreting originality reports using Turnitin (for staff)

  • Thursday 7 November, 12:30-13:30

This free lunchtime session covers viewing and navigating Turnitin Originality Reports for lecturers, tutors, postgrad tutors.


Plagiarism: Awareness and avoidance (for students)

  • Monday 11 November, 12:30-13:30
  • Friday 6 December, 12:30-13:30

In this free byte-sized lunch time session we will provide support in learning how to avoid unintentional plagiarism. You will have a chance to put a piece of your own writing through Turnitin and interpret the results.


Turnitin User Group

  • Friday 15 November, 14:00-16:00

This free user group is for University staff members (academics and administrators) who are existing or potential users of Turnitin, and divisional or departmental representatives.
