We have been running a number of webinars to support staff who have been teaching remotely (see the details below). The webinars have been attended by more than 500 staff.

We are currently reviewing the feedback from these webinars, and are preparing a series of new webinars for Michaelmas term.

Teaching remotely in Teams

This practical webinar will guide you through the steps needed to set up and run an effective Teams meeting with students. We will demonstrate how to prepare for a live teaching session. We will also explore the ability of Teams to share your screen, allowing you to deliver a presentation, demonstrate an application or process, or simply share a document to discuss. 

Designing online seminars

Dr Sumathi Sekaran (Senior Course Tutor, Oxford Online Programme in Sleep Medicine) will describe a variety of online seminar teaching designs. Dr Ruth Percy (Educational Development adviser, CTL) will deliver some insider hints and tips from her own experience and that of colleagues, to help with the transition from face-to-face to remote teaching.

Ideas for using video

Peter Robinson (Head of Educational Media, IT Services) will present some practical examples of videos produced at the University in different formats: from the simplest videos created on a mobile phone, to more advanced techniques such as screen-casting. Dominik Lukes (Digital Learning Technologist, SAID Business School) will look at the theory of using video.

Teaching remotely: an introduction
